Brian Garner

Singer and songwriter Brian E. Garner was the second of three children born to the late Rev. Bruce E. Garner and Sally S. Garner. He grew up in the small farming community of Pelion, South Carolina, where his father pastored a tiny Southern Baptist church called Mt.
Hermon. Most of his childhood was spent involved in athletics and farm work. He spent much of his free time on the banks of the North Edisto River that flowed closely behind his house or seated at his mother's piano, where he picked out melodies by ear. He grew up listening to his parents' collection of Motown, Gospel, and Elvis Presley. When he stumbled upon Bob Dylan at around the age of twelve, he was captivated by the storytelling, which inspired him to try his hand at verse. In high school, he became a fan of Shakespeare and the Romantic poets. After finally picking up the guitar around the age of fourteen, he realized his verses needed music to become songs.
Over the years in his career, he has collaborated with numerous writers and musicians, including Jim Sonifeld and the late D.B. Bryant.
His storytelling is deliberate and poignant, with songs like "Human Condition," "Pieces of Me," "Stone's Lullaby," "I'm Going Mine," and many others showcasing his writing. His hope is simply to share his stories with as many people as the Lord will allow, and now he writes for Murray Town Entertainment with a passion to solidify his life's work.
